“Now you understand….” The man in the white coat was quickly cut off.
“Yes, yes I’m well aware of the consequences.” Said Father Malcom.
“I get that but we’re not getting a reading, it’s like we fell off the face of the earth. If you go in there I don’t know…”
A small girl with glowing yellow eyes spoke up in a voice that echoed the voices of the divine.”Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid for your lord, your god will be with you wherever you go.”
Father Malcolom closed his eyes as the words washed over him. “Joshua 1:9” the priest kneeled as the young girl anointed him with holy water.
“Thank you Matilda.”
The goat roared as flames licked the edges where the portal and our reality met. The thick smell of decay and brimstone pierced through the air like a knife. The man in the white lab coat approached the priest. “Hook this here and pull twice for us to start the winch. If we don’t hear anything in three minutes our time we’re starting it. I’m not going to be responsible for your stupidity.”
“Have some faith,” Father Malcom said.
“I have faith in science.”
“Maybe we can change that.” He said as he approached the gateway cross in hand. As he got closer the cross started to glow a molten red blistering the skin on his palms.
Ignoring the pain he continued to chant “עם האדון כשפרד שלי ינחה אותי. עם החוכמה שלך, ספק תובנה ובכוחך הרשה לי להתגבר על הרוע.” and stepped into the portal.
